When he was 8 years old, Aaron Saray was presented with a hand-me-down that would forever alter the course of his life: a Commodore 64. With no tape drive or printer, a black and white TV used for a monitor, and a surge protector, he would spend hours programming in BASIC - and praying that the power didn't go out. Fast forward a few decades to see that determination and dedication is still going strong. With over a decade of PHP programming experience and a Zend Certified Engineer certificate, Aaron has become a strong pillar of the PHP community. When he's not technical editing for Apress or Packt and writing for Wiley, he organizes the Milwaukee PHP Users Group. His full time job as a Web Development Team leader lets him leverage his knowledge of advanced PHP Design Patterns and architecture, Zend Framework, and AS/400 - System-i integration. Aaron is an accomplished speaker with presentations given both around the Milwaukee Metro area and globally on behalf of Zend. Aaron's childhood fear of losing power - and forever losing his 10,000 line program to play BlackJack on his Commodore 64 - has made cloud computing very attractive to him. Aaron continues to evangelize the benefits of PHP as an enterprise-ready solution and looks forward to showing how the cloud augments this fact.
It's time for these words to seem a lot less scary and complex. Aaron Saray will discuss the various technologies behind Software as a Service, give examples of Cloud Hosting and how the cloud handles scaling, discuss the positives and negatives of different vendors, and finally, give you something you'll really like: When is it time to move your Joomla project to the cloud - and how do you do it? If you're familiar with installing Joomla on a web server or perhaps you've made custom Joomla programming, this presentation is aimed to you - join Aaron Saray as he talks through the next level of offering Joomla!
